Unfortunately my boyfriend and I attended a Shell Vacation seminar last month in San Francisco, a hundred mile drive, and we were there for 6 hours! Our intention was just to get the voucher for the free trip to Hawaii but we had to sit thgough 4 or 5 different high pressure salespeople with the same over the top presentation. We were very skeptical about the whole thing and we asked a ton of questions which disturbed them to no end.
We did end up purchasing some "points" - which I regret now... But no timeshare. I sent the voucher certified mail (at the suggestion of one of the employees who was on his way out of the company) and I did recieve a letter back saying they needed $100 for taxes and there would be additional fees and charges based on any changes in our accomodations.
After reading hundreds of complaints online both for Shell vacations and Holiday travel of America I have decided to give up on trying to redeem these vouchers at all. I do not want to deal with the unanswered phone calls, emails, black out dates, etc.
My boyfriend and I are planning on going back to San Francisco in the very near future and picketing this phony company with their fake incentives. I wasted my only day off listening to these jokers and If I can prevent just a few people the hassle of listening to these scammers in hopes of getting a free trip then that's just what I'll do! Anyone wanna go??
