Like others, I have had problems with the company as soon as they charged my credit card. It first started when I read a posting on the net from someone saying that while their credit card had been charged for the tickets, the airline had not been paid for the tickets so although the person had a confirmation number, they did not have tickets. This prompted me to immediately contact the airline and as reported, my tickets had not been paid for either.
This trip was for a remote location and I was due to leave within a week. When I faxed a letter immediately cancelling the trip, John contacted me and we were able to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, I had to change my plans to a later date and then had to cancel altogether... To make a long story short, I called and left a message and sent an email cancelling my trip. John did respond to my email confirming he understoood I wanted to cancel.
Apparently he never bothered to contact the airline to cancel the flight. The first thing 1st Air did was to tell me they were going to sue me. When I contacted the airlines I found that 1st Air had only paid the taxes for the ticket. To make matters worse, 1st Air had only paid for my ticket to get to my location but not the return. What was I supposed to do when went to the airport to come home and found I had no return flight?
When I sent a letter back challenging the charges, I received a letter saying 1st Air would be happy to settle if I would just pay 1/3 of their supposed loss. I did receive a letter from an attorney threatening to sue me. Funny thing is he doesn't answer his phone, return my call or respond to emails. I have not sent a certified letter and still no response. This company is a total scam. I am just waiting now for the next shoe to drop!
