We entered into a contract to purchase a timeshare with Island Seas Resort in the Grand Bahama Islands. Since we already own a timeshare, Island Seas said they would sell our timeshare and we can then put that money toward the Island Seas timeshare purchase. Laverne Johnson was the sales person who told us Island Seas would sell our timeshare.
We had 7 days to change our minds and cancel. Since we were heading home on the 4th. Day; we waited until we got home to read the contract. Nowhere on the contract did it say "Island Seas would sell our contract." We sent the cancellation letter back, including all the papers in the contract. We had a complimentary stay with Island Seas. (I thought complimentary meant free). We sent everything back with next day postal service so it would get there before the 7 day cancellation period.
A couple days after we sent the contract back, we got a call from Ormond Beach (Ormond Beach, FL is headquarters) stating that we owe for the complimentay stay at the resort.
We used a credit card for any incidental purchases, which we didn't make. They charged our charge card for $1400.00 for a complimentary three night stay. Again; they never intended to sell our timeshare; they were scamming us. We have learned our lesson. Never again.
