I had a funny feeling about this trip it sounded too good to be true

Ever since I signed up for this trip, I had a funny feeling about it. It sounded too good to be true. I was informed by the salesperson that I have 18 months to make all three of the trips that were included in the offer. At the time I booked the trip, I was considering it as a honeymoon for myself and my then, fiance.

Last March the engagement was dissolved and I find I am no longer interested or in need of this trip. I will be reaching the end of my 18 month period on April 7. Taking this factor into account, I knew I would be providing the Ramada Plaza Resorts with more than an ample cancellation notice (six months).

When I called Ramada Plaza Resorts and explained my situation, Erin, a reservation agent (they do not provide last names nor employee I.D.#) informed me that this was not a refundable trip. I asked her, how can they take my $349., without providing a service. She responded that this particular claus was stated in the contract that was sent to me through the mail.

All of my transactions with this company have been via the telephone and I did not recall signing or verbalizing any such type of agreement with them. She also stated that I could transfer or sell the package to someone. I then informed the agent that I would be filing a report with the better business bureau and discontently hung up the phone.

This type of abuse to my interpretation meets the standard of a scam that needs to be investigated and that consumers need to be well made aware of. Perhaps this endeavor can be taken on by a national reporting network, like 60 minutes, 48 hours, or covered on a special consumer report during the evening news. Consumers should not be subjected to victimization by the type of scam artists, who eliminate the rights of the consumer and the delivery of customer satisfaction services from their company's mission statement.
