I entered a draw at a local fair. Win a trip to Orlando, Florida and the Bahamas. Wow, wouldn't that be great if I won.
I recieved a phone call about 1 week ago." Congatulations, you have won a trip for two... Blah, blah blah." They had actually called me at work. I was so excited I couldn't even breathe. I own a restaurant and they phoned right in the middle of my dinner rush. Of course I didn't want to hang up the phone, I had just won a trip!
I spoke to a woman named " Camille ", she went on and on about this amazing trip I was going to take. I couldn't even get a word in. I was asked for my creditcard # for verification for a package. Stupid me gave her my number. I didn't even think twice about it. She was so smooth talking, so sweet and said all the right things. She just slipped it right in there, " I'm going to need your creditcard #, you need to purchase a package worth 399 for each person for a total of 798 us ". I was charged 830??? Not sure why.
I'm not really sure what I was thinking at the time. This is where they get you. They work you up, make you think that you've won a trip. Then they begin to tell you that you need airfare to get to Florida and you have to visit one of thier shows. The fact fo the matter is that this trip will probably end up costing you more then the trip itself! Can you say scam?!?!?!?
I spoke to another man named " Charles " for verification. Again I repeated my number for him. I know that they record everything. He gave me my verification number. I hung up the phone after about 1 hour.
I was so happy. What a way to start the weekend! I was telling some of my customers about this trip and she said " that's funny I just got the same call and won the same trip that I entered at the same fair!" Then she says it's a scam you know. My heart skipped a beat and I felt sick to my stomach.
I phoned my creditcard company that night to cancel my card and the payment had already gone through. I phoned the next day again to see if they could reverse the payment on my card, but they couldn't. I had to contact the company and work it out with them.
I called the 1-800 # that I was given the night before and talked to a man, "George". I told him I wanted a refund and that I don't even want the trip anymore. But ma'am, it's a trip of a lifetime he says. I kept telling him I don't want it, he said the he couldn't give a refund due to the terms and conditions??? What terms and conditions, I never heard them or read them!
I would like to know from anybody if there is a way to get a full refund? Please help!!!
