I received a phone call saying that I was "pre-qualified" for an exclusive vacation at an exclusive price. I would receive 3 days and 2 nights in Ft Lauderdale, 3 days 2 nights in Orlando, & a 2 night cruise in the Bahamas, all for $398. On top of that they would throw in a 3 day 2 night trip to Vegas and a 4 day 3 night trip to Puerto Vallarta.
When I told them I thought this was too good to be true they told me they can offer such a great deal because they want us to listen to their vacation village package for a half day while we're they're. I've heard of similar trips in the past from people I know so I thought it would be a good deal.
I went ahead and booked the trip only to find on-line afterwards that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. There were several reports about how this was a scam and the travelers ended up paying more than they were suppose to. So, I decided to call back and cancel (since I was told there would be a cancellation period.)
After being on hold for what seemed like 20 minutes an agent came on the phone. She was very friendly until I told her I wished to cancel my trip. She told me that this was a special offer and could not be canceled. After about 15 to 20 minutes of arguing she said the best she could do was refund all but $99 and keep the trip open for 3 years and I could pay for the rest any time.
