Reservation misrepresented

Reservation was made direct on July 9th, with this resort for a non-smoking oceanfront room to be used (two nights) on Aug 17-19. I was told by Christine, if I made this through Expedia.com, an oceanfront room would not have been guaranteed so I made it direct with her and she gave me confirmation # 500011819, and total was $392.00 for the two nights.

Upon arrival at this resort they had not held an oceanfront room and put us in a room facing the pool. The room was damp and musty with a mildew smell and even the carpet felt wet. The sheet on the bed and bedspreads felt damp. Also, it was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but there was an ashtray and matches in the room. When we left to do excursions the next day and returned, our clothes left in the room had gotten damp from all the moisture. It was very frustrating that we had made these arrangements over a month in advance and then received this kind of treatment. I am sure there must have been mildew under those rugs since the smell was so bad and this could cause serious health problems for some people.

Our stay at this hotel/resort was awful. We woke up at 3:00 A.M. And decided to get ready and leave then instead of waiting for the check-out time of 11:00 A.M.

I am an Independent Travel Agent with ATN, and would definitely never stay here again or refer any client to stay here. The elevator and halls did not have A/C (maybe it was broke). This place definitely needs a lot of attention.
