Cirrus Design Airplanes
And Service is Terrible ripoff

Simple, purchased a Cirrus SR22-G2 approximately six months ago and here is part of the letter that I sent to the president, Alan Klapmeier, of Cirrus Design twice, once overnight mail, with no response back either time:

Here is a list of the other problems I have encountered and have finished work orders on:

1. When I picked up the airplane for delivery, several screws were missing in the wingtip;
2. During a flight to Anoka, the number one alternator completely separated from engine. I had to finish the flight with only the backup electrical system;
3. Flying back from Arizona, the number two alternator fails over the mountains. We stopped at Grand Junction, CO and mechanic couldn't make the repair. We had to fly the remaining distance with only one alternator;
4. We found that the XM weather system would not work at high altitudes. After making four separate trips to two different service centers, the problem was finally solved, however, subscription time was wasted;
5. During a trip to Chicago with passengers, an interior panel falls off during flight. Not a big deal, just embarrassing;
6. The manifold pressure indicating system failed while on a flight over the mountains;
7. Paint keeps chipping off of the right main gear coverings;
8. I've had problems with the pilot-side seat slipping;
9. The flaps chafe into the trailing edge of the wing; the flaps have had to be readjusted;
10. The pilot-side seat has been difficult to fold down;
11. The seat belts twist out of the back rests on the front seats causing them to fray. I was told I could pay to have a part installed to prevent this from occurring;
12. The striker plates on the pilot side door came loose making the door difficult to shut;
13. The engine page would freeze on the MFD. A new computer needed to be installed;
14. Starter failure;
15. Busted visor;
16. Ongong paint issues.

I am still waiting to hear back from Mr. Klapmieir. My concern is that the warranty will run out and I will be stuck with all of the future repairs.

I have spoken to several of Cirrus's Service Center personnel and have been told on several ocassions that the alternators are being replaced like popcorn and they are having many issues with these planes.

I realize that new anything, there are going to be problems, their president's lack of response can only lead me to the conclusion that he does not care about his customers.

I would recommend the purchase of another plane.
