Allegiant Lost another Loyal Customer Yesterday

We have been flying Allegiant since they opened their first flight out of Greensboro, NC. We loved this airline. Have not been happy recently, as they charge for every little thing. Accepting this, we booked our recent flight, and followed their baggage charge protocol and to save $ we paid for our "CARRY-ON" bags upon check in of our outbound flight. Printed our boarding passes and off we went last Thursday to Tampa/St. Pete. Easy, no problem.in haste yesterday, we left my daughter's without printing our boarding passes. We weren't concerned had plenty of time to check in and get to the gate.

After standing in line for well over 40 minutes, we were next in line and the ticket agent was insisting this man in front of us with a fairly small duffle bag (for which he had already also paid for carry-on on his outbound flight), check his bag and pay again. His credit card was denied, and the man had to scramble to figure out how to pay for this to get on his flight.in the meantime, my husband and I have roller bags (remember we traveled with them last Thursday, easily fit in the overhead bins, and had no problems traveling from Greensboro to St. Pete), again the ticket agent insisted we must check them at additional cost. He just said it would be charged to the credit card on file. Upon walking away angry, I realized, 1) He didn't give me a receipt so I had no idea what I was charged, 2) there was nothing on my boarding pass to indicate we had checked luggage to claim. I went back to the counter, and asked for these documents - he said "I could log into my Allegiant account and have this info, it is all in the computer, so not to worry. I then inquired as to the charge (which I fully intended to dispute anyway) and he gruffly replied $50). We assumed that was 1 x $50, as we had already paid 2x $20 for our carry-on, that we were no longer carrying on.

Upon arrival back in Greensboro, we discovered numerous people waiting for luggage grumbling about the same experience we were in the midst of. Oh, did I mention in a very small airport it took us over 40 minutes to get our luggage?

Checked my bank account upon arriving home, and discovered we were charged 2x $50, or an additional $100 for luggage that we had already paid $40 to carry-on. Of course, you can't speak to a live person, just send an email complaint, for which I have done. I will update you on any satisfaction we obtain.in speaking with fellow passengers about this experience, we suspect their ticket agents are incentivized for this type of behavior!!
