My husband and I traveled from Iowa to Mesa, AZ in December. We arrived at the Mesa Gateway Airport to fly on Allegiant Air at 7:20 which was 50 minutes prior to take off of our flight. We went to the ticket counter and tried to check in and were informed we could not. There was no one in the security line and we would have had no trouble getting through as this is a small airport anyway. The ticket counter agents argued with us for 45 minutes telling us it was "all about weights and balances" and if they were to let us on we could crash the plane. Another lady was also stuck with us who's father was dying and she was held up by TSA and the agents told her they were not responsible for what TSA does. Needless to say, they made all kinds of excuses, they offered us to board another flight on christmas day that we would have to pay for. So being that we could not get a flight out of the Mesa airport before xmas day, we had to pay an extra $450 to fly out of the Phoenix airport. I wrote Allegiant 2 months ago with this complaint and they just called me 4 days ago and informed me that I agreed to be in the boarding area 30 minutes prior to the flight and since I wasn't, I would not be getting a refund. I looked up on their website what I had agreed to, and what the customer service lady did NOT say was that I was correct because I was at that ticket counter at least 45 minutes prior to take off to be checked in which is what their terms of agreement states. I will never fly allegiant again and feel the need to report them to some higher up because I have been coming across all kinds of bad reports about people they have done this to.
