My bags were lost on an american airlines flight. The employer would not help at JFK airport as it was not my final destination. I continued my travels to South Africa (on a connecting flight but different airline). I filed a complaint in SA as advised by AA. 5 days later my bags showed up in SA however they were not delivered as promised therefore I went 17 days without bags as I was a 6 hour drive away from the airport with no transport and therefore impossible for me to collect them myself. I had to buy all new clothes, toiletries, make up etc. I emailed a complaint to american airlines and days later received a response saying its the other airlines responsibility to sort me out since i flew with them last. However, the other airline (south african airways) believes its their responsibility since the bags were lost from their flight. I have had no response to my latest complaint via email regarding compensation for the money i spent in those 17 days.
