I had a burn phone with AT&T for $55/month. The phone was lost so i called and cancelled my account. The next month i bought another phone also AT&T and started a new account with a new phone number and a simpler plan. They charged me for both plans! When my bank and I called them on a conference call, we were bounced from department to department, each person claiming that i didn't cancel my account, which was untrue. 1.) I was very explicit about cancelling my account, but they claimed I suspended it, and 2) apparently they think it's okay to charge a suspended account.
Also, the US is the only country in the world that allows double-billing, a practice which is illegal under US law, where both caller and callee pay for the call. Hiss boo!
