I purchased a $50 Gift Card on 12/22/07 as a Christmas Gift for my 74 year old father who enjoys fishing. Christmas Eve my father suffered a stroke and has been hospitalized ever since. Today 12/29/07 when I went to visit Dad, he requested that I cash out his gift card so he can use the money to pay for his medical expenses (Dad has been on Medicare for a few years). I went to the Algonquin, IL store where I purchased the card and explained what had happened to the store cashier. He tried to cash the card out, but was stopped by Chris (the store manager which would not divulge his last name) stating that he couldn't give me cash for the card because of store policy. I am now stuck with both the memories of my father's stroke and with the bad experience with Dick's Sporting Goods plus the store still has my $50 for a card I can not use (I have had a severe back injury so I am unable to use any sports equipment). The store has absolutely no compassion for its customers. If the store followed any Christianity at all they would have compassion for other human beings not just the almighty dollar bill.
