I bought a new 15HP Sail Outboard motor through E-Bay in March for approx $2000. I bought a new motor because it is important to have a reliable motor out on the water. After about 10 hours of use my son was left stranded out on the lake when the motor suddenly quit. Now Sail outboards solution was to send me some parts that they thought was causing the problem for me to install. I said why should I install parts on a brand new motor, a mechanic should determine what the problem is.
Sail has no dealers so I took it to a mechanic who replaced the kill switch. I submitted the repair bill along with the faulty part for reimbursement, which Sail refused to pay.
The motor ran fine again for a short time then suddently lost almost all power. It went back to the shop when the mechanic found the reed valves were shot. So now this motor just sits here useless because Sail will not refund my money a I will not spend any more money on repairs for a unreliable Chinese made piece of garbage motor, that should of been covered by a warranty.
