I purchased a toyota 22re motor along with a brand new head. After paying a mechanic to install the motor, the engine was started and smoke was coming out the exhaust. Each time the engine was shut off and restarted the motor would smoke. My mechanic determined it was in the head and oil was leaking down into the cylinders. I contacted the company before even driving the truck and was told to allow the motor to break in. So I put 500 miles on the motor and went through 1qt of oil. Contacted APR Auto Care and reported the problem I'm still having. I was told to put some more miles on the motor. So I put another 500 miles on and went through 1qt of oil. After having put 1000 miles on this motor I contacted the company. I was told by Becky I could pull the motor and ship it back to them. I asked are you serious? You expect me to pay to have the motor pulled and then pay to ship back to you? Becky stated that I could have my mechanic diagnose the problem and let them know. So that's what I did. I had my mechanic take the head off and send it to a machine shop to find the problem. The problem turned out to be a bent valve & broken valve guide. APR would not cover any labor and stated they would only pay for what parts were used and they would only pay what they felt the parts would cost them, not what I had to pay. I feel I got a zero warranty due to a defective engine being delivered. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Even though they offer a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty, the warranty is worthless.
