A year and a half ago I told the manager at Gold's Gym that I wanted to upgrade my gym membership but I was moving in just a few short months. He then told me that he would cancel my membership when I moved with the copy of a signed lease or something showing I was at the new house. So I upgraded. Well a few months later I went by the gym and gave them a copy of my new lease. The manager wasn't there so I left it for him at the front desk. I also informed the staff not to bill my bank card because it had been lost and I already had it discontinued. I even offered to go ahead and pay for the next month with cash or until my new card came in. Well I moved before the next month so I never gave them my card's new info. I received a bill and it had a $15 service charge on it because they billed my old card after I told them not to. They are still doing that to this day.
I have called them numerous times and left messages telling them to not do that and to stop billing me because I have moved. The manager told me that he never received a copy of my lease and therefore my membership was still active. I then sent a certified copy of the lease and still got no results. They have taken huge amounts of money out of my account for just a small monthly fee. I've even cancelled several cards and called my bank and told them not to allow any transactions from Gold's Gym to go through and they still get money out of my account. I switched accounts and they still managed to get my money. Finally I had to change banks altogether and that's when the threats of court started. They are still doing this as of 4/13/07 and it's been almost a year since I've been there. They are now threatening to take me to court. I say let them. I'm so tired of dealing with it.
Word of advice to any one getting a membership paid through monthly installments from your account "PAY FOR IT ALL AT ONCE AND DON'T ALLOW THEM TO TOUCH YOUR ACCOUNT IN ANY WAY!!!"
