Failed to close account after faxing lease twice

In September my husband and I moved to Wyoming. We had Sprint as our wireless carrier, however Sprint does not provide service to most of Wyoming, including where we moved to. We added a roaming option before moving and kept the phones on for a couple months. During this time Sprint mailed our bills to the Wyoming address.in November we called to cancel the service as we were sure at this point that everyone had our new numbers and we didn't need the phones anymore.

I called and they asked for us to fax them a copy of our lease to show proof of our new residence. We pointed out that they had been mailing the bills to the Wyoming address for the last couple months, so why would they need the lease, they said they just needed it. So off we went to UPS and we faxed a copy of our lease. We called a couple hours later, and were told it was "in processing".

Well, a couple weeks later we get a notice that our bill is unpaid and that service is still active. We call back Sprint, they say they never got a copy of our lease. We fax it again, call back again, and were assured that they received the lease and would be sending us a final bill. A month later we received another bill and found out that the account was still active.

I've written to the FCC now, this is ridiculous. The last few times I've tried to call I've been hung up on while they went to go put me on hold. I had very few problems with them while I had service with them, but when it came to cancelling my account it's been h*ll!
