Ripoff and fraudulent cancellation, billing procedure

To cancel a membership, members are told to send a 'cancellation form' to the corporate office in Irvine, CA. Once the paper is received there, then thirty days later billing stops, and since the member has prepayed for the last month (when they originally signed up), the member can still attend the gym one month after cancellation.

I sent in the form in June. I understand why they billed me in July.
However, they continued to bill me in August and again in September.

I chatted with Brittany via their online chat. She claimed that I never sent the form in and since there was no proof that I had, then she would not reimburse my account.
What she did offer to do was stop the billing and waive the thirty days. I was livid, because that should have been done in June/July.

I found this ridiculous and contacted the corporate office by phone. The results were the same.

I suggest not signing up for this gym. If one must, then I suggest not giving any credit card information to LA Fitness. They will use it fully to their advantage.
