I was playing the nickle triple play at this location. The bonus was advertised as "HIT ANY 4 OF A KINDS DISPLAYED BELOW WITH $1.25 OR MORE BET AND SPIN THE WHEEL" The cards of the day were FIVES and JACKS.
My mom was playing next to me and she got 2 free spins on 5's and Jacks. She was playing the Five Play. So I switched over to 5 play (moving my bet from $0.75 to $1.25. I got 4 Jacks. The woman at the counter refused to give me the promised free spin. Her name was Dotty (Dorothy Gordon). She claimed that I had to play Quarters. I advised her that my mother had just spun twice on the promotion and was playing the same game. She was rude and refused to discuss it. I asked to speak with a manager. She called a manager on the phone. I never saw him face to face as he said he was "too busy". His name was John Davidson and claimed that his manager's name was Jim Moore. He said that I couldn't have been playing $1.25 on nickles. I advised him that the bet was $1.25 (25 nickles). He said that I could call gaming control if I had a problem. I asked him to send someone to take a voluntary statement from me and witness the machine containing the 4 JACKS along with the bet of 25 times $0.05. He refused. I contacted gaming control and will be filing a complaint with the investigation division.incidently, I also asked Mr. Davidson if he had any objection to me taking a picture of the win. He said he didn't care and hung up. So, I took a picture of both the winning hand on the machine, clearly showing the payout, the bet and also took a picture of the Advertisment. Those will be included in my complaint.
Be careful when gaming in the grocery stores (Especially VONS). They have no technicians and incompetant staff who don't care about gaming regulations or possible malfunctions with their promotions.
