Short story, DO NOT do business with these people. They are idiots. Go to Gold's Gym or somewhere else.
On April 19th, I decided to check out the new World Gym Express that we just had open in our city. I went and looked, liked the equipment and the tanning beds, and figured I would join. The guy that signed me up briefly mentioned that there was a $75 activation fee to join. Although i was a little shaky about that I went ahead and joined.
Once I got home, I realized that it was ridiculous to pay $75 to be "activated" to a gym, along with $40 a month membership so I decided to cancel. The contract gives you 3 days after midnight of the day signing up to do so. To cancel you have to send a letter registered mail, about $8.00, to World Gym and they are supposed to return the activation fee that they already charged on your account within 30 days.
Well, I didn't think anything of it for a few weeks, but it started getting close to 30 days. I called them and they guy I talked to said that the women in charge of all that was on her honeymoon, but she would take care of it. The second time I tried calling, they said they never got the cancellation notice and were going to start billing me for the account. I had to fax another copy of my receipt from registered mail.
The third time I called, which was 2 days before the thirty days, they said they had not got the cancellation notice until May 18 and they still had 30 days from that point, even though I have a receipt from the post office saying it was sent on April 21. They still have not returned my money, it's been about 40 days now. I've filed a complaint with everyone I know.
