Bergmann's Cleaning
Of Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. Ignored a complaint and request for partial reimbursement, due to the job not being done and damage to carpet Kensington

I went into the Bergmann's, a place I have used always for my dress. I asked how much it would be for a carpet I needed to clean. I gave the specs. And size of the carpet. I got a price. Then I dropped the carpet off. I came back to pick it up and it sat for months in my home because I did not use it right away. When I was moving away to Europe I sold and gave away many things.

One of them was the carpet. However, when I unrolled the carpet it was still soiled, cat urine, and it had a fringe that I had to sew back on, that was not like that when I gave the carpet to them.

When I saw that it was still ruined. I proceeded to clean it myself using a very fine and expensive herbal cleaner. I got it cleaned and sewed the fringe back on. I gave it to a friend for her dining room, it was a large 10X15-ish Silk oriental carpet.

When I wrote an email to Jeff at the Contact us page, I explained that when I went to pick up the carpet they charged me 150 more than the price quoted to me, when I inquired about the price, before dropping it off. I told them I paid it thinking the carpet was cleaned and they needed to use extra stuff to get rid of the urine, but when I rolled it out and the carpet was not only damaged but still soiled and that I had to clean it, I told him I should get my 150 back, and they could keep the 300 because I accept the fact that it was my decision to try them as a Carpet cleaning company but that they could not be trusted to do another job in my opinion and that if they wanted to learn about the product that I used to clean my carpet I would show them.

Jeff ignored me. I wrote him about three times telling him that I thought it was unprofessional to ignore me. Then I just told him I would let others know the way I was treated by him and his business.

I tried to get him to deal fairly with me. I accepted that I erred in choosing his company, not unrolling the carpet there when I was paying for it, and that I should never have agreed to pay the extra 150, but instead just had them write the amount out and then hold them to it, when I picked it up. I was willing to accept only the added charge, 150. But alas, nothing could be done to resolve the issue and I was the only one trying to make solution so I could feel better about the lack of service and the lack of efficiency by them in serving me.

I realize this is a family owned business and I thought I would get treated better by them. Why would I lie about something like this? I gave them 300 USD and 150 on top for a carpet I ended up having to sew and clean myself!
