I was called by a savvy sales person who told me I should go to the Brentwood office and see what Great Expectations offers to busy, successful singles. So given the fact that I am too busy to really pursue my romantic life I felt this was a good decision.
When I met with the salesman he told me that Great Expectations had a huge roster of the kind of man I described as my ideal mate and that they also had an advertising tool called their "yellow pages" where I could advertise my new company and benefit from it. The contract cost $3700. To become a member. I told him that was a huge investment and I needed a few days to think about it. He told me I would not be able to get that deal unless I signed that day. He also guaranteed I would get business from their "yellow pages" and I could write off the entire cost as advertising costs on my taxes.
I was not allowed to see the website due to their "privacy clause"... I now know that the reason they don't let you preview the members is because it is a limited group of individuals... Not the kind I would pay $4700. To meet and the "yellow pages" have 18 entries... Not what I would call an effective advertising tool.
I have expressed my disappointment and asked for a rescend of the contract and to get my money back. They have told me I cannot get my money back and I should just try to find a way to enjoy the experience. I am furious! I am in an industry that I do not get paid unless my client is completely satisfied and believe all businesses should operate in the same intergrable way.
I want to know if any one else has felt this way about this company and I want my money back! I am willing to pursue this in a legal way as I feel it is a matter of principle. Can you help me?
