WrinkleBullies.com Buyer Beware

I found Wrinkle Bullies by doing a breeder search in my area (Dallas, Texas), and went to see the puppies in person. At first I was impressed with Cesar and his wife, they seemed really knowledgeable, caring and honest. However, I thought it was a little strange that the parents (neither one) were at the home to also look at. He said they had a farm up north where the dogs stayed. I ended up falling in love with one of the pups though, and purchased her anyway - Cesar said she already had her first set of shots and dewormed and gave me the vet records. I asked him for the registration papers, and he said he submitted for them but would not receive them for a week or so, and he would have to send them later - I was a little hesitant, but had already decided to purchase the dog, and I didn't really need the papers - but when you pay 2k for a dog, you want them anyway. I took the dog to the vet that week, and the vet would not accept the vet records as they were not official documents, so I had to pay for the first rounds anyway - The dog did get sick about a week after we had her, and was sick for a long time, mainly congested and snotty - but I can't say this is because anything the breeder did or didn't do.

A month had gone by and I didn't hear back from Cesar regarding the papers, so I contacted him. He told me that he doesn't register the dogs, and he sold the dog as a family pet only - If I wanted the papers it would be 500 more. This is absolutely false - the first bulldog I purchased was also a family pet, but I was provided with the registration papers, the breeder just marked out the section for breeding, and on the form marked the section for family pet only - also know as "Limited Registration" which means you can not breed or show the dog. Registration confirms that the parents have been maintained, and that the dog is not imbred. I told Cesar that I only wanted limited registration but he said that was 500. I think he knew that I was not going to pay 500 more for paper at that point, and this was his way of avoiding the issue because his dogs are not registered. I do have a large suspicion that these dogs are probably imbred, as their is no reason why he wouldn't provide limited registration papers.

The dog has been in overall good health, but has shown signs of hip problems. She also had a large cyst on her ovary that was removed when she was spayed, and has had a large cyst under her tongue which we had to remove. She also has allergy issues. All of these things are things that they warn you about with the breed, and even more of a reason to pick a breeder carefully - as imbreding makes theses issues more prevalent.

We of course love our bulldog and she is the sweetest thing - but we will not be buying another dog from Cesar. We will definitely research the next breeder much more carefully, meet the parents, get registration papers, real vet records and get everything in writing. Cesar is much more of a mass producing breeder, than a quality one!
