I recently chose Move Improve Relocation to move me and my family from Texas to Pennsylvania, I now regret it. First off, the woman who gave me my moving quote was very nice and friendly, she made us feel like we had indeed made the right choice. The price was fair, or so we thought until it went up. The original price given was $1200 and the next day after talking with the same woman, she had to recalculate the quote and it came to $1500. We were still okay with this price, seeing that it was fairly reasonable and within our budget, we would soon find out it wouldn't stay that way.
I received a call from 'Joe' who proceded to tell me that the price would now total to be $2000 and we would need to place a down payment of $700 and so we did. The movers were supposed to arrive Friday, September 28 and didn't arrive until Sunday, September 30th.
When they finally arrived, we had already stacked our belongings in our garage and everything was packed, all that was needed to do was load them. I should mention that I do not have anything bad whatsoever to say about the crew, they did a wonderful job and were very friendly. After everything was loaded, the owner called back saying that I had exceeded my alloted space and the price would now be $3000 total. Needless to say, we got a federal discount ($300) and the price dropped to $2700. We paid $1000 over the phone on our credit card and the rest of the $700 was to be paid apon delivery.
The driver himself told we would have our things the following Thursday and that we would be kept up to date on the whereabouts of our shipment. After everything was loaded, we packed what was left in the truck and headed up to PA, we received another call from Joe as we were passing through Marshall, Texas. He stated that he knew we were mad about the price going up but that he was a Jew and he wouldn't take a dime more than what was deserved and blah blah blah. We started thinking that maybe it wasn't too bad and that perhaps we made a good choice.
When we got to our apartments we were prepared to do without for a few days, but to this day we are still waiting for our things and today is day 24.'Dispatch' (who is actually Joe) states that they will call you back and never do. I have called several times and left messages and only hear back from them once I have filed a complaint from someone... This all sounds a little too fishy to me so I started checking my bank statements to see just where the money I paid them went.
Here's what I found out: a sum of the money debited went to Express Relocation SVC which is a moving company based out of West Hollywood, CA. Another some of my money went to Chabad Lubavitch out of SanFransisco and another some that went to the same name with a different address... I really don't know what to think because we never really can get ahold of 'Joe' and if we do, it is always very brief and he hangs up before we can say anything else... This company is very shady and I reccomend that anyone who looks to them for moving stay completely clear.
