Freedom Van Lines gave an estimate of. 35 per lbs and then once my things were loaded said they couldn't do it for that price. I had to haggle the price down to. 41 per lbs which was not the original contracted price. They lost one of my dining room chairs. Crushed my boxes into a truck like sardines. Both the pickup and delivery drivers tried to hit me with additional charges. I over paid the delivery driver with a cashiers check and was told by Freedom Van lines they would reimburse me but I've heard nothing more about the issue.
I had really high hopes for this move since they were very nice and attentive before I agreed to the contract. It was after they arrived to pick up my belongings for the move that things started to go wrong. It started when the driver wanted to charge me an additional fee for additional stairs. I lived in a second story apartment and was told originally there would be no additional charge. The driver tried to count two short flights of stairs (7 steps each) as an additional flight of stairs.
The driver then looked at my contract printed from my email and said they couldn't honor the rate. The driver then called in to the office and he said they would honor the price. Once my things were loaded he then said they wouldn't honor the original contracted price. I then had to talk to the Isaac the dispatcher and he was rude and condescending. I had to agree to pay a higher price since I was on a schedule to move from Dallas, Texas to Charlotte, North Carolina.
When my things arrived 13 days later, they had been packed like sardines into a truck. Boxes marked FRAGILE were crushed. Some of my glass items were shattered and they lost one of my dinning room chairs.
This has been the worst moving experience of my life. I'll never trust my belongings to another company. I'll rent a truck and move it myself just like I did when I moved to Dallas.
