In August I went to the kiosk in Serramonte shopping center thinking it was an official AT&T store. I spoke to several people who told me they could do what I needed which was 1. Cancel 1 line off of my family plan 2. Lower the amount of minutes 3. No data plan on any of the lines.
That night—none of my phones had voicemail. Had to return to the kiosk to get voicemail reinstated.
That weekend—my phone could not make phone calls. Had to return to the kiosk again to get a new phone.
Next month (September), I come to find 1. The line was never cancelled 2. The amount of minutes were never lowered and 3. All phones had data plan on them. I tried to call the kiosk, but their phone line was busy or off the hook (for 2 days straight). Finally called the 877 customer line and they weren't sure why the phone was busy or why they didn't get the items taken care of, but would try to get the kiosk to call me back. Finally someone tells me they will take care of it (along with their regional manager). I stupidly assumed it would all get done. Wrong.
Next month (October), again, items 1-3 were never taken care of. Filed a BBB report and an FTC report for false marketing and bait and switch. Called their customer service again since the kiosk phone number is off the hook and / or busy, and they tell me something completely different from what the people at the kiosk tell me. They say I must have data plans on these phones (which is what I already learned by talking to AT&T directly) and that they never had notes to take care of items 1 and 2. I asked why their employees are telling me false information to sell me plans and they kept repeating that they cannot do anything for me because AT&T is required to have data plans on phones.
I was lied to repeatedly on the phone and to my face by these scoundrels and am furious that I was tricked into something that I did not know anything about. You would assume that in the US, sales people do not lie to your face. This is utterly ridiculous this company still exists.
