BOARD AT YOUR OWN RISK @ PET PARADISE A/K/A AMERICAN PET RESORT Sadly, I learned the hard way that if your beloved pet is seriously injured while in the care of Pet Paradise, you have no legal recourse under Florida State Statutes. I boarded my Llaso Apso's - William Curley and Gus - at Pet Paradise in Jacksonville Florida. Their brochure and tour of their facility reassured me that my pets would be well cared for, especially with a "Live - in caretaker to supervise our guests 24 hours a day ". I provided them a list of five cell phone numbers, the phone number where I was staying, and, my Vets name and phone number in case of an emergency.
My dog, Gus, was seriously injured, his eyeball was knocked out the socket, resulting in blindness and his other eye was damaged resulting in partial blindness. To date, my medical bills are approximately $5000, and, he will require medical care for the rest of his life, with a strong probability his other eye will need to be removed.
