Too many things did not add up and I concluded that this was not what it appeared to be

Northern California Human Capital Services is supposed to be a job placement company with 20 years experience and a 90% success rate. However, too many things did not add up and I concluded that this was not what it appeared to be.

Recently, a sales consultant from NorCal Human Capital Services called my home number and said he saw my resume on Monster.com, and requested that I go to his office for an interview. When I went to the location (2680 North First Street, Suite 112, San Jose, CA), the place was a small office with empty cubicles and nothing on the walls. There was a reception desk but no receptionist while I was there (during normal business hours). The sales consultant did most of the talking, assuring me that he could get me a high-paying job. He said this was the point in my job search where my methods weren't working but I hadn't given up yet, so this was the time for me to use his services. The sales consultant asked me to come back the next day and to bring my spouse so we could talk about business terms. He also gave me a Myers-Briggs test to take overnight. Strangely (for a company with 20 years success under its belt), the test sheet was difficult to read... It looked like it was a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, not the professionalism I would expect.

That evening, I searched the internet for the testimonials of people who had been helped by this company. I found none. There was, however, a complaint on Yelp.com (www.yelp.com/biz/stanley-barber-san-jose) about how the company Stanley Barber, Ultimate Career Dynamics was enthusiastic at first, took the writers $3000, and then failed to follow up, even claiming repeatedly that they didn't have her resume! This company had apparently changed locations and operated under aliases (one of which was Northern California Human Capital Services).

The next morning, I called the sales consultant and left a voice message that I would not continue to be involved with NorCal Human Capital Services. I did not hear back from him after leaving that message.
