We called the company and scheduled a service call to repair our chimney on December 26. We received a call from the service tech (Dustin Gengler) who asked to come on January 13 instead.
Mr. Gengler was unable to make the appointment so the company sent another service tech, Rick Kennian, who came to our house on January 13th, two hours late. We had already paid a $100.00 deposit and were told that it would cost an additional $600.00 for the repairs. Mr Kennian said he didn't have the materials with him to do the work required that day and rescheduled the repairs for January 20. My husband wanted the fireplace repaired and agreed to the new date and the amount of the repair quote.
On January 20 Mr Kennian returned at 10:00 AM. He didn't finish the repairs until after ten o'clock that evening. Before he left, he told us not to use the fireplace for 48 hours to allow time for the insulating material to thoroughly dry.
Forty eight hours later we started a fire in the fireplace and smoke billowed into the house. My husband had to carry the burning wood out to the backyard in a metal ash scuttle.
I called Fireplace Doctors the next morning and told them what had happened and insisted that they either refund our money or send out someone who knew what they were doing. The woman who answered the phone said their tech would call the next morning.
In March of this year, we called again and were promised a return call from their tech people. It's now June and we still haven't received a call. I tried to contact the company on-line and the site is closed.
