I received a box of 7 DVD's from Columbia House DVD Club that I did not join and did not order.
My Visa card was fraudulently charged $43.87.
My Visa card was neither stolen or lost; in fact, my card was in my wallet until today. Obviously, I notified my bank, and I canceled and cut it up the card immediately.
How was Columbia House able to get my Credit Card Number, Expiration Date, PLUS my address?
I know how. This is not an individual theft; this is a corporate theft scam because the merchandise was sent to my address as if I ordered it. If it was an individual theft, the merchandise would have been sent to the thief's address.
I honestly believe Columbia House DVD Club purchased my private information, along with other consumers, from some internet outfit that I did business with in the past, and decided to make an illegal purchase for me.
Companys, like Columbia House, that do this illegal behavior are hoping that people forget to check their statements closely.By the time the consumer sees the fraud and by the time Columbia House, refunds the money, Columbia House will collect interest on their illegal revenue.
Has this happened to anyone else besides me?
If yes, is there a class-action lawsuit in the works against companys like Columbia House?
