I am redesigning a salon in Addison, TX. It was in need of a total paint retexture, trim carpentry, and lighting and door installation and minor repairs. I also needed sink installation. I received MANY bids before I decided on this contractor to do the work. His bid price came in at the middle of all other offers. He was not the highest, nor the lowest. He told me that they had never had any complaints in over three years and he had been in the business a very long time. He told me that with my budget of $7,500.00 he could possibly squeeze in new cabinetry in the shampoo area. He told me that his crew cleaned up every night, did all follow thru, and all I had to do was give them the key. The first and second week went well, then things happened. My air conditioner caused a huge leak in the ceiling. I rushed to get the A/C Repairman, it was the fault of the painter who stuffed every vent when he did the texturizing and then he never removed the paper. Water everywhere, but the construction crew blamed it on other issues. The A/C Filter was just covered in texturing material and the construction crew told me that this was the FIRST TIME HE HAD PAINTED SO HE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. From that day forward, only two workers were in the salon and the quality of their work was good, however it took them three times longer than an average person to get anything accomplished. They never bought the right hinges, or they never did simple trim and painting work before. I was calling the contractor and he had exhausted me for all of the money that the job was to cost and I thought that the job would be finished by week three. This is an 1100 sq ft salon which needed minimal workl. Week 3 the work was slower, and on week 4, this week, I went in the salon, made a list of over 45 things that have not been completed. I came back at 3:30pm to check on the progress of the work. Only 6 things were finished. The contractor at that point handed me a bill for an additional $6,500.00. I was shocked as my highest bid with new cabinetry was $10,000.00 and I had already given him a total of $7,500.00. His method of billing was charge double for items, charged me for items purchased before he even had a signed contract with me or had started the job. He kept trying to drag out the job to collect $3,000.00 per week for his two employees. I told him, just give me a wrap up bill. Today I went into the salon to have furniture delivered, the workers were not there so I really had a chance to check out the quality of the work. The cabinets in the kitchen are all on crooked, vents put up are all crooked, the trim painting and door painting all needs to be redone. Not one job in the entire salon is finished, everything needs to be completed or redone. NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY as the workers have no supervision, they are SLOW, and have to do everything over three times, they are not experts in what they do! I now have to hire another contractor to come in and finish the job that they did not complete. It is unbelievable what this contractor has done to me. Plus, the owner, Don Walker, bills for work double, doesn't check the material invoices and expects you to pay. I am going to small claims court but the money that I will have to spend to get their mistakes corrected! This company prides themself on high standards and their website is totally deceiving. I can't even sleep thinking what this company has done! I do not recommend this contractor to anyone.
