Beware of new contractor company operated out of Kenilworth, NJ, called Improvinators LLC. This company is ran by two individuals, Nick and Renna of Cranford, NJ and Geovane Lemond of Plainfield, NJ. We had a horrible experience with them while they were contracted to rennovate our home. We are aware of other home owners in the area (Westfield, Kenilworth, and the Woodbridge area) that have been robbed by them. Their strategy is to underbid projects by $50,000 to win the bid. They will start your project and fill up a dumpster with the demolition work to make it look like they are working aggressively to finish your project. They will collect upfront money for windows, siding and upcoming work. Soon, you will be out of thousands of dollars and the orders for materials were never placed and they will not return back to your house to complete the project unless you are willing to pay more. After numerous weeks of deception, they admitted to us that they lied to us and never placed the order we paid for and the money we gave them is no longer available because it got absorbed into the company.in addition, they will not pay the subcontractors for the work done at your house. This becomes a problem because the subcontractors can put liens on your house and you could possibly have to pay again for the work that was already done. Upon our research with other home owners contraced with the Improvinators, we found their strategy to be consistent. Local police departments do not want to help you because they feel the situation is only a civil matter. Meanwhile, people in the Union County area are being robbed of their money by these two individuals (we have the proof to support these statements). This is consumer fraud since they are misrepresenting where your funds are going and contracted for work that will not be completed.
If people have been taken advantage by this company or other contractors they should in addition to the usacomplaints.com: 1) place complaint with the Better Business Bureau 2) place complaint with NJ Consumer Affairs 3) Seek legal counsel 4) write to Prosecutor's office to see if they will take your case for criminal charges.
We are hoping to create awareness of this criminal behavior by the Improvinators and these local residents so home owners won't have to lose money like we did.
