I found the company, if its even a company, when its only 2 individuals, Penny and Scott, on Craigslist of San Antonio called Pool Sharks of San Antonio. I gave them a call and spoke to Penny. I explained that i have a 13' round Intek above ground pool and I wanted to hire them to level my backyard and set up the pool.
On April 8, Easter Sunday, at 4:03 pm, Penny sent me a text that said, "We can head to u now if thats alright?". I immediately text back with a "yes please". Penny text right back saying, "Ok, c u shortly". They finally arrived at my house at approximately 5:30 pm. They immediately got to work with measuring and prepping yard with what materials they would need. Penny said she would charge me 425.00 dollars to level ground and set up pool. She also said since my wife had started digging a day before they came, that because of that, we saved and additional 400.00 dollars. Penny said she wanted to collect half the 425.00 up front and the other half upon completion of work. She said that she only takes cash. So I hired her for the job and she wrote up a contract that stated all the work they would do. Penny and Scott left that night around 6:30 pm and said they would return the next day, Monday April 9 by 11:00 am.
On Monday, April 9, I didn't hear from them all day, so at 4:04 pm, i text Penny and asked her if everything was ok. She text me back at 8:24 pm that night stating that they had some kind of trailer incident and that they would show up the following day, Tuesday, April 10.
Penny and Scott finally showed up on Tuesday, April 10, at 5:15 pm. They immediately started on the job. After several smoke breaks and calling for other jobs, they finally finished job at around 9:10 pm. Penny stated to me that when they were complete with job, the base of pool would be flat because they would pack sand tight and assured me that pool would be leveled. She gave me a 90 day warranty that was written on contract. Penny stated if when i fill pool and i encounter problems to call her and she would come fix it. Penny and Scott left for the night at around 9:25.
It took till Friday, April 13 to completely fill pool up and when it was filled up, i got inside pool to check for any problems. As soon as i stepped inside pool, I felt myself sink down into the sand almost all over the base of pool. Right away i knew they didn't pack sand like the professional way they said they would do. I immediately exited pool and did a walk around outside pool and immediately and obviously noticed pool was not leveled all around the entire pool. The pool was off level all around.
And this is where the problems beings with Penny and Scott of Pool Sharks of San Antonio. At 1:28 pm on April 13, i text Penny stating the problems i encounted with pool. Penny text me back 25 minutes later stating that she was working in Converse Texas and that she would call me when she finished up.
I didn't hear from her for 2 days. Now the pool is getting lower due to all the water that is in it. On April 15, I text Penny and asked her if she was gonna be able to make it today. I got no response. I'm already frustrated with the lack of communication. At 1:09 the same day, i text Penny stating that i need them to come fix problem.
2 minutes later i got a text from Penny that said, "Look... The pool being an inch out is not an emergency... I'm sorry we r not there yet but we will swim as usual until we get there. Nothing will happen. We r dealing with something else that is detrimental. It will not b today."
I've been texting Penny everyday asking her if she will make it today, and her reponses are the same, yes I will be there but everyday the same outcome, no call or text from her and it is very frustrating. I am getting the feeling that she will never return.
This situation is bringing lots of stress in this home that was never there. On April 10, I found out that Penny and Pool Sharks of San Antonio were already on the complaint. Apparently, we aren't the only ones who were scammed by Penny. I wish i would have found out about the complaint sooner. I would have never hired Penny and Pool Sharks of San Antonio.
I have already went and reported Penny to the Media. I haven't yet filed a police report but Penny is leaving me no choice. I can only text her so much with no response. I need help.
I have two sons, a 5 year old and an 8 year old. Everyday, they look at the backyard at the pool and are very disappointed that they can not swim in it. It breaks my heart that Penny is doing this to us.
On Wednesday, April 18, my wife decided to drain pool and clean the inside with all bacteria building up on it. We run the pump periodically. We want to install a saltwater pump we purchased at Academy that cost us 120.00 dollars but pool is gonna have to be emptied for the sand to be packed down.
We paid Penny 425.00 for her to do what she wrote on contract. She is not and that, i believe is a breach of contract. 90 day warranty. I want what i paid for.
OMG, I just looked up there advertisment on craigslist and noticed that she has a picture of my backyard with sand piled up in a circle, which by the way, my wife dug not them. I did not give Penny permission to use my backyard on her advertisement.
Some of the things she has written on her advertisment are things like, "all phone calls are returned within 48 hours, for a rapid response, send a text message". Thats a laugh, it should read, "Send me a text message and ill respond when it is to my benefit."
From what i have seen of Penny, she is in to make money no matter what. An example of that was when she was doing job at my house, she kept telling her helper, Scott to call the next jobs lined up for that day. And it was 7:30 pm, I believe she feels she got her money and her job it done. Thats not how it works.
I am looking for some kind of justice, whether it be getting my money back for incomplete service or having Penny fix her problem she made. I don't feel comfortable with her finishing job. Im afraid she will rush through it and make it worse.
I want to hire a real professional to fix the problem that Penny caused but i cannot afford another 200.00 dollars to pay someone esle.
I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Any advice would be surely appreciatied. I already told everyone of my neighbors of the situation that Penny has put me in. Word of mouth spreads quickly. I would not recommend hiring Penny from Pool Sharks of San Antonio. She is false advertising if you ask me, I have experienced it.
