Complaint / Review
Jeanie C. Barbee
Celestial Havanese Do not trust this So-Called Breede

Well, well... Unfortunately, I did not use due diligence for once. Shame on me. Had I read the 3 usacomplaints.com on Mrs Barbee's name the way it is spelled here (with one n not 2) and instead of her business (Celestial Havanese), I might have saved myself headache and money. I will be checking with the Havanese Club or America and these Rescue organizations as well to see what info I can aquire on this lady.

I had a major run in with Jeannie C Barbee this month (aka Jeanie Barbee, aka Celestial Havanese). This lady is a piece of work. I had no idea she's been ripping people off, even since before 2008. Everything that is reported about this woman is true. I bought a havanese from her early this month (If that's really what it is). I should have known something was wrong. I never saw the parents of this 6 month old pup who had only 1 set of shots that she supposedly administered herself (but she is SO sick).in her initial email she told me she had two dogs left (white/cream and tri-color). They were supposedly so old because again, she'd been so sick that she was unable to advertise the litter properly. She was also so sick that she couldnt meet with me, but instead had her husband to bring out paperwork. Yet she sounded great on the phone while directing me to her home.

Stupid me bought a dog from a 'sick' person (she's sick alright). Please bear with me and my scattered comments while I explain as much as I can. I bought the pup only to find out a week later that Jeannie had previously told another interested customer that my dog was a 'special needs' dog. Wth? Furthermore, the next day after I left her home, she updated her website to say I only have two dogs left. Suddenly, a new puppy listed where just the day before she mentioned only two pups left. So where did this new pup come from? I wondered and knew something looked fishy, but I didn't question.instead I took a google snapshot of her entire site with the date/time stamp and contents of her site update. I guess after she sells one of those, then she will still have just 2 pups left.

Moving right along, on day 4 (1 day past the refund and a few days before I found out about the special needs comment), I asked Jeannie questions about the pup's very thin coat and why he was not eating the Iams dry kibble food her husband instructed me to purchase. She immediately got defensive and demanded immediate return of the pup stating that I was obviously not happy. She said I violated her contract and was suing me for changing the pup's food.in actuality, her contract states a change can be made but must be done slowly by mixing new and old which is what I did.

I was so upset and irritated by the call that I almost fell for her threats, but after speaking with my fianccee, I told her I was not returning the dog because we had a contract and it had been followed. She told me her husband was going to come to my home to pick the dog up. When I again said no, she threatened to show up at my house with the police, have her 'attorney' draw up papers to file against me, etc. She yelled at me over the phone and wrote several nasty emails over and over demanding return. She claimed I made the pup sick, and I am abusing him by keeping him where he is not happy or wanted.

She has no right to make up lies just because I had specific questions. The pup is in good health, eating, playing, running, and perfectly happy now that his shyness has worn off. Almost forgot, during the same phone coversation, she threatened me that I'd better not call the 'AKC people' and tell them anything. This really raised a red flag. I was calling my fiancee, not akc, but since she mentioned it, I did. After I called AKC, I found out that she gave me false paperwork to register the pup. There is a different process that must be followed. Luckily, the AKC advised offered me a couple of options which I will not mention in case I am forced pursue those them if Jeannie refuses to follow thru on ownership registration.

Fortunately, with my backgroud in law and a number of attorney friends, I realized that Jeannie is actually breaking her own contract and she has no ground to demand the pup back. I now see clearly that (as a prior report states) she wants the pup back to likely resell him for more money. Maybe that's where that other pup came from the next day that she updated on her site. She probably forced or coerced another prior customer to return it. Moving along, after several of her hateful, ugly, threatening emails and an unusual cirmstance, I made a decision again to try to wash my hands of this MESS.

I offered Jeannie 2 legitimate options which I felt were fair to her that would either nullify or meet her contract terms plus offer a good health certificate from a licensed vet upon return. She refused both options which made no sense to me. If Jeannie cared so much about all of her dogs, wanted this pup back so bady, was getting a good health certificate, and knew the pup was worth as she states 1/4 to 1/3 more than what I paid, then one of those 2 options should have completely satisfied her.

Futhermore, if she cared so much about her dogs and is involved in rescue, etc, then why did she not have all vaccines done before her pups were 6 months of age. Responsible breeders get their puppie's shots on schedule even if they keep them longer than they expect. (Smelling even fishier to you?) After her refusal of my more than reasonable offer, I was completely blown away. So I started really digging deeper into this woman's background only to find complaint after complaint with a different name spelling of how this woman has been scamming, lying, and playing mind games with buyers. I am find more information by the hour. I am 100% prepared if she even attempts to persue legal action against me.

I advise anyone DO NOT do business with Jeannie Barbee or Jeanie C Barbee at Celestial Havanese. You will go through major headache and you'll be so sorry in the end.
