Two years ago we went shopping at the J.C. Penny store at the Columbia Mall in Kennewick, Washington to purchase a prom dress for my daughter. While waiting to pay for this item with a personal check, we were asked if we would like to apply for a store credit card. We own no other charge cards and since our experience with this one, we will never again apply for any type of card.
At the end of May we were contacted by phone from a collection agency (out of state) about a bill with our credit card for unpaid amount of $73.51. The collection agency never told us what the charge was for and neither has J.C. Penny's.instead of fighting this bill, we went to the Columbia Mall and paid the bill directly to the J.C. Penny's store. We have the cashed check and a in store receipt as proof of payment.
This collection agency has contined to call us weekly about this bill. I sent a letter to the agency telling them to stop calling us since this bill was already paid and inclosed a copy off of the check (front and back) and store receipt. We are still getting calls from the collection agency demanding payment.
I have also contacted the BBB in my area and the FTC about this. The suggestions they gave us I have already done so our next course of action will be to seek the advice of a lawyer. I personally feel that J.C. Penny and the Monogram Credit Card Bank of Georgia ripped us off and have lost my business for life.
