I saw an ad in Money Mailer coupons for Genie Rug Services so I called and spoke to David Nachum one of the owners and made arrangements to have him come clean my Oriental rug. He came, and said the small pet urine stain was not a problem and that he could clean it by hand washing the rug. I paid him $174 in advance and noticed that there was no address on his business card so I asked him to write it down on his invoice.

David took the rug and three weeks later I called him to find out where my rug was. He said he had it and would deliver it on Friday. He did not show up so I called him and he did not return my calls. Getting somewhat nervous, I started to investigate the address through a web search and found out it belonged to another company owned by Bill Thornton, named Oriental Rug Care. I called that number and spoke to several people there who said they knew David and would contact him for me.

When he finally called me back he said he would bring me the rug. When he delivered it the color had run into the white part of the rug. It seemed ruined but he told me he could fix it so I again let him take the rug.

He called me a few days later to tell me he was sending it to a company in Colorado to fix since this was the only company in the country to do this type of work. I said I wanted him to call me when it was completed.

Three weeks passed and I called him to find out about the condition of the rug. He told me that he just got it back and it looked beautiful. However when he delivered it most of the color of the carpet was now gone. So instead of the color running... There was almost no color left.

I asked him how he was going to handle it and he stormed out of my house saying "you can do whatever you feel like doing, I don't give a damn". With that I wrote him an email, called with no response and called Mann Rug Cleaning in Colorado to see if I could get reimbursed for the damaged carpet. Mann Rug Cleaning told me they were not responsible and David Nachum never returned my emails or phone calls. The value of the rug is over $2800.
