As an Account Executive/Assistant Media Buyer for The Leffler Agency, I witnessed first-hand, the most deceitful and repulsive business that I hope to ever encounter. Mr. Robert Leffer, owner of The Leffler Agency, sexually harassed all coworkers, including myself, on a daily basis. He spoke openly about our breast sizes, our weight, his sexual activities with his wife the night before, sexual activities he had done with past co-workers, and his favorite sexual acts.
Even after several requests for him to stop discussing sexual topics, Mr. Leffler ignored our requests and continued on as if it were the norm. Mr. Leffler and I were once late to a meeting with one of our clients, because he was in the empty building next door, allegedly, receiving an oral sexual favor from one of his subordinates.
Mr. Leffler has stated several times that he only hires young females, which is exactly what the office mainly consisted of during my employment.
Mr. Leffler is a sleazy business owner that cheated his clients out of money. He claimed to be a full service advertising, marketing and public relations firm, but all of the account executives, account supervisors, and media directors in his Baltimore office were young girls, with a year of experience at most.
During my employment at The Leffler Agency, the account supervisor was only 24 years old, the media director and public relations director were only 25 years old. If I were a client, I would demand to have a "director" that had at least 5 years of experience, not a pretty girl that was fresh out of college.
When I first started, none of the account executives in the company had any experience with public relations or marketing, but Mr. Leffler claimed to have a company that provided expertise in marketing, public relations and advertising.
The Leffler Agency was notorious for not paying their bills on time. The Leffler Agency is one of the most disastrous, unorganized companies I have ever seen. Bills were always paid late, if they were paid at all.
There was never a mentor there to teach me about the specifics of the job. I was 22 years old, fresh out of college, and handled several accounts on my own, with absolutely no guidance or support. When I asked Mr. Leffler specific questions in order to learn how to appropriately manage my clients, he often became furious and would yell at me as loud as possible and not provide an answer. So instead, I had to figure things out on my own, often learning only after making several mistakes. I had no other choice but to "experiment" with my clients, who thought they were paying good money for quality service.
Clients were paying Mr. Leffler a great deal of money for quality advertising, marketing and public relations, but were instead having 22 year olds, all with little to no experience, managing their accounts. Also, the turnover rate at The Leffler Agency was quite high. A few months after I began working at the agency, there was a complete turnover for all account executives and media buyers/planners.
The "joke" within the company was that if everyone cashed their paycheck at the same time, they would all bounce. The money management at The Leffler Agency is extremely unstable and untrustworthy.
The service that Mr. Leffler provides is poor at best. He is dishonest, manipulative, deceitful, and disrespectful. I would strongly recommend not doing business with this company.
