Long story short, it's disgusting that Leffler made me lock in a high price for heating oil during the summer and would not let me change the deal to something fairer when it became obvious that prices were artificially high for a couple of months and now are at reasonalbe levels. These disgusting crooks wanted me at first to pay $5.25 a gallon and would not let me out of the deal in July '08 unless I paid a $599.00 cancel fee. After arguing, they took the price down eventually to $4.75, but still would not let e cancel. I wrote to the company manager to them him I will never do business with them again after this 12-month lock-in was over. He wrote back that they wanted to keep me as a customer and invited me to discuss this with him further about an offer. I called and left a message. He never called back. While I am stuck with paying 4.75 a gallon for heating oil, others are paying half that amount for oil delivered on the same truck. I will NEVER do business with Leffler again. I have been with this company for 7 years and purchased several thousand dollars worth of equipment (new furnace, new central air system) and they treat me like this. Oil prices have dropped way down. How was I supposed to kno they would when I locked in? Leffler told me it was good to lock in at the high price in July because "mr jadus, the price could go to 6 or 7 dollars, you better lock in now at this price while you still can". I feel this company was deceptive to me and not willing to work with me when it was obvious the summer prices were artificially high and the consumer was the one getting screwed. The oil supply company should be the one looking to assist its customers from falling into this kind of trap. Mine did nothing. Heating oil is not like cable tv where I have a choice to drop the luxury if I think the price is getting too high.., heating is a necessity and you don't have the same choice. After this 12 months, I will never do business with Leffler again. My boss at work uses a different oil supply company. They were willing to compromise with her and reduce her similar deal down into the low three-something range in light of the falling oil prices during September. I will do business with them next year since they seem to care more about their customers.
