Actually I moved twice in 20 months and used McAvey Moving both times. The first time was uneventful and I purchased the "extra" insurance. All things went well and nothing was missing or damaged.
The second time I moved I was not as lucky. I did not take the extra insurance and unfortunately the wooden headboard to my bed was damaged. There were several gouges in it. Some almost 1/4 deep. Damaged was discovered when the crew was still unpacking; I brought it to their attention and was told I would get a call to arrange to have it looked at. Weeks go by no call. So I call and the girl says I have to fill out a form. Says she will send it out. Another 2 weeks and no form. Another call and this time the form was emailed to me. Filled it out and send all of the info and documentation in. Wait. Wait... Wait. Nothing. Now 3 weeks later and they put me in touch with Eugene. Tells me that the insurance on my stuff was like 60 cents per pound or in this case...$65 OK I say... Cut me a check. He tells me it will go out Friday. Now 3 weeks later and I still have nothing so I call again. Eugene tells me that it was on his desk and he just didn't get to it. Finally I have my check for $65.
Bottom line. Getting any insurance directly from Eugene at McAvey will be like putting teeth.
I was very disappointed...
