I bought a pair of custom cowboy boots from etsy.com. Since the boots were custom made, there is no size information inside the boots. So as a buyer, we have to depend on the seller's description about the sizing (length from the toe to heel, width, etc) to decide if it fits.in the seller's description, the length from the tip of the toe and the back of the heel is 10 3/8 in and the estimate size is 6.5. But after I received the boots, I immediately knew the boots are smaller than what it's been described. I brought the boots to a local cobbler for a professional measurement and the length is just 10 in. For boots, from 10 3/8 in to 10 in, it's a full-size difference. I contacted the seller to request a return but didn't work out a solution. Then I contacted the etsy custom support and this is their answer:
"I'm sorry that you and the seller were not able to work out a solution, and that you weren't satisfied with your purchase. I completely understand your frustration with this situation. However, Etsy is not directly involved in the transaction between buyers and sellers. As a result, Etsy has no control over the truth or accuracy of the listings. While we do work to ensure that items on our site qualify for sale under Etsy's DO's and DON'Ts, Etsy does not pre-screen users or the content or information provided by users. Consequently, Etsy does not transfer legal ownership of items from the seller to the buyer.
If you paid for this item using PayPal, you may submit a dispute for an item that is significantly not as described. To do so visit the PayPal Resolution Center.
You can also use the Etsy Feedback system to review the product and service. Etsy may take action against sellers with overall low Feedback scores, which may result in the suspension of selling privileges and/or termination of an account.
