I wanted to make you aware that Darrell Choates, President of Choates General Contracting (CGC) is guilty of not paying his vendors and contractors.in other words, if you have done work for CGC you may not get paid. My experience: emails sent directly to Mr. Choates to pay my past due invoices have been completely ignored.
Recently Choates General Contracting was awarded an agreement to build the first green schoolhouse in Philadelphia for low-income children. An article and picture even appeared in the Tribune regarding Darrell and CGC building the first eco-friendly school. This particular email is not to bash Darrell Choates personally, but to let you know if CGC cannot pay small contractors hundreds of dollars, how can Mr. Choates possibly pay millions to larger contractors? Regrettably, Choates has decided to give the silent treatment to contractors that they owe money to. How much more ignoring and silence will be implemented when he owes people on a larger scale?
In closing, please consider who you decide to do business with. Yes, this is a bad economy and many small businesses are struggling. However, it should be a code of business to pay ones bills. And, if there is a problem, integrity says communicate, find common ground, and work out a solution. Choates General Contracting, unfortunately, has chosen not to practice integrity when paying clients. I just wanted to bring this problem of Choates General Contracting to your attention.
