Signed a contract with Jarrod J Bancroft of JB General Contracting, LLC (tax id 13-4299047) and gave a $16,500 deposit to finish a basement and build a bathroom 8/29/05. He took over 2 months to submit the permit. Finally got permit 1/6/06. Jarrod said he'd start on 1/16. Called him 1/23, when he never showed up, said he'd declared bankruptcy (which he didn't actually do till 02/23), hung up on us, and refused to answer phone and talk to us since.
He ripped off another couple for $40,000 for an addition in 08/04. He also put them on his bankruptcy list. (see link)
He had the nerve to tell them that he bought a brand new pickup truck with their money. He said he was going to Hawaii with ours!
Contractors don't have to be licensed in PA, the townships don't even keep bad contractor lists or do background checks when they pull permits. Even if they did, a contractor could file under one corporation name one day, dissolve it in a bankruptcy, and file under a new corporation name the next day! They can file bankruptcy under one tax id, dissolve it, start another corporation and file again, with no six year wait rule.

Recently, over 110 other people in a fifty mile radius have been ripped off by 2 other local contractors! These crimal fraudulent contractors have to be stopped!
