I am sure this sounds familiar to a lot of PhotoPoint users. This was a quote from the email I received Tue, 1 May from [email protected]
"Your credit card will not be charged until April 30.
In the interim, you can continue to enjoy your account
as usual. The benefits of one-year membership will officially
begin on May 1."
Surely one year is not already up!!! What's going on? And it's not even the money that I am so upset about. What about a warning?! If PhotoPoint was going to shut down & not refund our money, the very LEAST they could have done was give us a warning to we could retrieve our images. I frequently receive email updates regarding different services from the website. I had not heard anything about PhotoPoint shutting down, so I assumed they were having technical difficulties. It's been several days & I have started coming across these articles & complaints.
LEASON LEARNED: Always back you your photos because you know.
You don't always get what you paid for.
Needless to say I am extremely disappointed. I used PhotoPoint on an almost daily basis. I paid for TWO separate accounts & relied heavily on their service to post photos, especially wedding photos which included one of the top viewed wedding albums of the site!
This is the beginning of the notice sent out to PhotoPoint users prior to charging us. It was something I once believed & trusted:
