My husband asked me the other day about a charge that had appeared on this month's phone bill. Our carrier is SBC. We don't subscribe to a long distance carrier but use either our cell phones or a 10-10 number to call long distance. I took a look at the bill and saw a charge by USBI acting on behalf of the Tralee Telephone company. Baffled by this charge my immediate reaction was to call the number listed for USBI. Not suprisingly there was no answer. Next I looked for a number for the Tralee Telephone Company, no such luck.
This all happened on Friday and when I called SBC their computers were down and I was advised to call back later. I called back 3 times that day but they couldn't do anything because their computers were still down. So over the Easter weekend I looked up USBI and 'Tralee Telephone Company" in Google thats when I discovered it was a scam.
I was able to call SBC on Monday and they sent the charge back to USBI and USBI are now blocked from ever being able to charge our phone service.
