Signed on this company as a favor for a fraternity brother and a friend to assist them with business planning and overall company visibility. The owner initially attempted to bargain a website design for my company he literally put together in one night for our fee and because our firm believes in assisting burgeoning companies we accepted.
After assessing his companies structure or lack thereof, we honestly and most, importantly, contractually attempted to assist him with tax and certain specific business certifications we deemed his company eligible for. He submitted the initial certification formsone month and a half late, after constant prompting by our consulting firm staff... And completed the forms required to be done in ink... in PENCI... And barely legiible, at that, the day before the deadline for cut of submissions.
That opportunity missed we connected his web design service with our most valued medical client and because the specific opportunity was placed on hold due to my clients need to meet some minor additional requirements from the FDA... This guy literally demanded ALL of his money back! And get this... I agreed... As I wanted to just be done with him and take the write off, as he only paid two months on his one year binding contract (he signed and dated) that recently expired this past August.
After simply requiring the owner/Eric Barker to forward to me tax documentation stating our company was listed as a consultant and his firm properly reported... Issued compensation for actual work done... He fipped out and opted to go on the website and literally and maliciously posted that I was a fraud, I was a stereotypical "black", and some of the worst characterizations none of which I have ever experienced professionally or personally.
And get this... This business owner then threatened me, as if he was playing a mafia video game, saying he was going to destroy my life, family and business... Why... Because I requested documentation to verify he filed my firm's (miniscule) compensation correctly with the IRS so my firm could legitimately write of the return of funds he did pay and the funds he didn't.
Too add, he attempted and sent an email, from his business account directly to my list of client where he attempted, again, to juveniley malign my character... This guy literally sent personal emails to business's like a scorned lover and by the way he never did exercise notice to terminate the contract and OWES me $30,000 thousand plus.
An associate and client summed this 'dude' up so appropriately... An ANGRY NERD, No more favors from me... He taught a good lesson on that.
