I was contracted by NC Interior Design to write copy for their website. After the project was completed for my agreed upon fee, the owner asked for a discount, joking that he would like the job to be "free." With the possibility of an ongoing business relationship, I discounted my fee by 20%.
The owner of NC Interior Design was happy with my work and it is now posted on their website. Unfortunately, with a new excuse for every invoice I sent (many of which were simply ignored), I did not receive any payment for my work. Because of this, I removed the discount I had originally applied and re-billed for the full, initially agreed upon rate.
After several months, I did receive a partial payment. Even after I said that I was tired of continuing to pester the company for my fee, the owner urged me to open another online payment account through which he would pay me. I did this and invoiced accordingly and never heard from this company again.
I am simply seeking to receive the balance due ($178) for my services. I offered to wave the fee if my work was removed from the website. Either solution would satisfy me at this point.
