For over 30 years I have been a satisfied subscriber to Sunset Magazine. Last fall I noticed a cookbook that was of interest to me. When asked what I wanted for Christmas, I gave my family the cookbook card and they sent it to me as a gift.
Low and behold, we did not read the fine print, which stated by ordering this cookbook I would automagically be registered in this Oxmoor House cookbook club, thus receiving 1 - 2 cookbooks a year. If I had realized this is what would have happened by asking for the 1 cookbook that interested me, I would never have asked for this gift.
To my surprise, earlier this month I received another Sunset cookbook. Nowhere on the included paperwork were instructions regarding how to get out of this book club included. I have called customer service and removed myself from any future mailings, but this is a horrendous customer experience and I am sorely disappointed about the borderline fraudulent behavior. Based upon this experience, I have cancelled my long standing subscription to Sunset and will merely pick it up from a magazine counter when I get a yearning to read it.
