We engaged Sylvia M Scott of Freeman Freeman & Smiley in Los Angeles to address former employee's allegations of improper sale of securities. We cannot discuss the matter with any more specificity, but want to make the public aware that we did not have a good experience with Sylvia Scott of Freeman Freeman & Smiley. She was condescending, confrontational both to us - her clients and to the Plaintiffs, which led to escalation of the case and more expenses to us (and more money to Sylvia Scott and her greedy law firm).
Her knowledge even compared to our general counsel was minimal. We are not sure what she actually did at the SEC or FINRA, but it certainly was not securities or corporate work. We imagine that there was some report writing and posturing. The moral of the story is that not all government lawyers know what they are doing when they enter private practice after a long career with a regulator.
