When I first started using Quibids, I thought it was a fair and honest service that would give me the chance to perhaps get lucky and win a few auctions, as it is a great concept. The thing that attracted me to their service was that I always had the option to actually buy out the auction and use the value or "cost" of my actual bids towards the purchase price, that way I am really not out all of my money if I do not win.
After doing over a dozen auctions, I noticed that I would never actually win an auction, and I was always forced to use the buy out option. At first I thought I was just getting in too early, so I waited on some of the other auctions until it was at the amount that the same items closed at on average, but low and behold, as soon as I start to get in on it, I noticed other users out of nowhere would come on and bid against me.
The point where I knew it was actually rigged was when I kept bidding against this one user back and forth every second pretty much until I literally bid as much as I could until the auction price plus the value of my bids matched the buy out price for me, and the website then forced me to either use the buy out option and purchase the item for face value and blocked any further bid attempts by me. (Meaning my only choice was to buy the item for the retail value). At that exact moment I could no longer bid, this mysterious bidder that was in a bidding war with me back and forth every second immediately stopped bidding on this auction the minute I could no longer bid, as if the only purpose of him was just to keep me from winning the item.
This is really a shame, as a website like this could stand to do well if they were just honest about it, but unfortunately those who run Quibids, like many big companies, have become greedy pigs to the point where they will manipulate any and everything to maximize their profits. As they say, give them an inch and they will TAKE a mile.
I am done with their website, I understand some class action lawsuits are underway and I will jump on board with them as well once they are approved through the courts. A company like Quibids who has to cheat in their own service to maximize their profits deserves to have class action lawsuits filed on them which will result in the consumers getting paid back what they have been cheated out of.
