A headsup to all potential purchasers of pups from Gerson and Cintia of Itanhandu. They are quick to dismiss other breeders and criticize the quality of American-bred Filas, assuring you (and seemingly genuine about it) that they will guarantee you excellent dogs with top personalities, bloodlines and clear of health issues. Dog number 1 was a female pup who grew up hating my children, and focusing only on me. We have had Filas for 12 years before she came, and all previous (American breds) were devoted to each member of the family. The young female was sold to a single man after she wouldn't stop growling at the children. We then bought dog #2, not yet doubting their sincerity.
Papers did not come for months, and the pup we received - while nice-looking - had gastro issues from day 1, not to mention came into the country with a bad case of ear mites and worms! This male dog is predictably unpredictable, untrustworthy with one child one day and good with the other, and then vica versa. He has ruptured two cruciate ligaments (weak in the pasterns, weak in the stifles, and extremely poor foot structure). Now at the age of 5 he has autoimmune, despite being switched to RAW (which improved his conditions marginally). Vet bills on this dog have been and continue to be astronomical. Neither Cintia nor Gerson ever replied to any of my polite enquiries as to what may have been contributions to this dog's issues. Once they have your money and realize that you are dissatisfied, good luck trying to get anything further out of them. I will NEVER recommend this kennel to anyone, ever.
